Virgin Media Apologises as Thousands Report Internet

Virgin Media O2 has apologised after thousands of customers across the UK reported losing internet access on Monday morning.
According to Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, more than 10,000 people reported broadband connectivity issues, with the first reports surfacing shortly after 10:00 GMT.
"We apologise for any inconvenience and are working to fix this as a priority," a Virgin Media spokesperson told the BBC. "We're aware that some customers are experiencing intermittent issues with their services."
Virgin Media O2, which serves more than 45 million mobile, broadband, home, and phone customers across the UK, had 5.7 million broadband subscribers as of October 2024.
In January 2024, UK telecoms regulator Ofcom named Virgin Media as the most complained-about broadband provider. However, its performance has since improved, and by February 2025, it had fewer complaints than TalkTalk, EE, and NOW Broadband.
The exact cause of the current outage remains unconfirmed, but more than 9,000 reports of service issues have been logged since 11:00 GMT. The majority of complaints indicate problems with broadband services.
